Special Educational Needs/Disabilities (SEND)

The Pre-School has a long and established track record in supporting children with additional needs and disabilities.  The Pre-School:
  • Places children and their families at the centre of planning, review and next steps;
  • Works within the law and good practice:  following the Early Years Foundation Stage, the SEND Code of Practice and the Equalities Act;
  • Works with other professionals including Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Educational Pyschologists. This includes working with others who already support your child and/or making further referrals in line with a child’s needs and parental wishes;
  • Works with the Local Authority including to secure specialist funding or support through Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or other available inclusion funding streams/provision;
  • Works hard to ensure staff skills and understanding are up to date and our provision reflects good practice
  • Assesses the risks and makes reasonable adjustments to our provision to ensure all children can access all areas of the curriculum to the best of their abilities.
